The Process of Creating Natural Dyes

Connecting with the land and harvesting respectfully guides my dye practice. I am currently focused on learning about the mushroom and lichen dye species of Southern California.

Research

I have been studying the work of Alissa Allen of Mycopigments for years and have taken wonderful workshops with her. With her guidance and additional research I am learning about the vibrancy of color that is available to us when we slow down and get intimate with the natural world around us.

Creating Color

Depending on the season you’ll find me researching, foraging or dyeing in my home studio. I’m enthralled with the colors that can be extracted from the forest floor and am always working to bring these colors to wearable life. I do not currently have an online shop yet can find me selling locally in San Diego by following me on Instagram.
